Meet with subcontractors and suppliers, when asked by immediate supervisor to discuss and clarify technical and commercial aspects. Take off quantities from drawings, if Quantity Surveyors are not available and calculate estimated cost. Prepare value engineering, alternatives and proposals to be submitted to clients. Search always for more comprehensive alternatives without sacrificing quality. Perform all duties (related to the nature of the job) assigned by the Department head. Monitoring and storing costs through the use of computers to improve the accuracy of future estimations this is sometimes integrated with the quantity surveying activities. Conducting feasibility studies to estimate materials, time and labor costs for projects in addition to negotiating and prepare bids for tenders and contracts, Preparing and recording historical data of tendered prices on all projects for evaluation and assisting in forecasting future costs including updating of the Estimating database.
